Audio Systems: question, cables rca, spdif digital

hi, I have a laptop HP DV9000series with windows vista and when i tried to connect to Hdtv Sony bravia with  HDMI cable I can see the movies but I dont have any sound on my TV, only on my laptop. If you could give me a clue what do I have to do I would appreciate this. thanks

This might be helpful in gaining an understanding of HDMI and DVI issues.

There may be a compatibility matter associated with either the unit or the cable you are using.  Your PC may support the DVI standard rather than the full HDMI standard.  Study the URL above on this - about half way down the page.

Also, the HP is supposed to support AES/SPDIF digital out which your tv may or may not accept.

Please run separate audio cables (RCA type) between the output of the PC and the inputs on the tv.  You may have to use the analog headphone output for stereo audio if your particular PC does not support 5.1 digital.
