Audio Systems: Church Audio, channel mixer, church sanctuary

Question
QUESTION: I am the "engineer" for our church sound system.  We are blessed to have a BOGEN GS-100 Amp, 4 Roussoun OB speakers, a Tascam CD-RW900SL CD Recorder for our worship recordings.  We also have just purchased wireless microphones (AV-JEFE AUR010) But the mis-matched portion (I believe) is the mixer.  It is an old 2 Channel mixer.  I want to purchase an inexpensive (due to budget - less than $100) mixer for all of our equipment.  What would be my best bet, and what should I be looking for?  The only other component that we have in our system is a CD player for background music for soloists.

ANSWER: As a sound engineer for over 40 years I cant in all honesty recommend a mixer below $100 or tell you that you can search Ebay for a used one. In my experience when you are dealing with the 2nd most important component in a live system you don't want to inherit someone else's problems which typically happens with used equipment.

I will however try and locate a good deal for you on line once you tell me how many mic, line inputs you require and how many output buses you will need (IE house mix, recording, other zones, foldback monitors, effects). I assume that you are playing back and recording in mono (not stereo).

QUESTION: Let me rephrase the question then.  What would you recommend as a mixer for the type of setup we have, regardless of price.  The microphone set up has 4 mic's.  The only output would be to our CD Recorder.  We are noy using any type of monitor as I am in the back of the church sanctuary and hear the sounds live.  We are recording in mono.  Any additional help would be most appreciated.

Answer
Here is an assortment of mixers. The price range is well within your budget. If you look at the specifications you can see that there are units made by Tapco for under $200 that include effects (reverb and echo). Hope this helps.
