Audio Systems: car audio (antenna?), factory stereo, stereo cassette

Ernesto, I just found you online. I have a 1996 Saturn with factory stereo/cassette. 2 weeks ago am/fm went to static only. Cassettes work fine. My son took out radio and when it was hanging out, radio stations came in but when it was put back in-nothing. My husband thinks it's the antenna and would like to know how to replace it. Help?

most likely is the radio
it will be better to buy a rubber antenna from the auto parts just to test it
plug it behind the radio and put the radio back in
leave the antenna hangin outside the vehicle
if it fails again you have a bad radio
never seen the antenna go bad, good luck
