Audio Systems: music/light controller, google search, contact microphone

Question
QUESTION: My controller has too small a speaker for projecting music. QUESTION, can I remove the 2 speaker wires from the single 3" speaker, install a rca jack on the cables, run cables thru a line level controller, and then into an amp to larger speakers?

ANSWER: I wouldn't recommend it. Speaker levels (even quiet speakers) and line level are totally different things. If it doesn't "toast" the input you'd be feeding, I doubt you'll enjoy the quality (or lack thereof) the sound.

Answer
After looking at the unit, I'd actually look for a small contact microphone, attach it to the speaker unit, and plug the mic into an external amplifier.

A google search for "contact microphone" brought up a few - they seem to be under $20, or if you're handy, you can build one from these from Radio Shack parts :

I've built a couple of these, and they work really well.

I hope this helps.
