Audio Systems: Jensen XA 3022Lx, car stereo amplifier, sony head unit

Question
A friend gave a Jensen XA 3022Lx car stereo amplifier. It doesn't have any wires with it. It has a low level which is RCA cables, and a High Level which is a certain kind of plastic plug. Can I hook the amp up with just the Low Level RCA jacks or do I also have to use the High Level input to get the amp to work? If not, will it affect the sound quality not having the High Level hooked up? If I need the High Level for it to work could you tell me how to hook it up on a Sony head unit in a 1998 Dodge Stratus?

Answer
This amp has two inputs as you explained.  One for regular rca inputs for cases where the head unit has rca outputs.  In this case male ended rca cables are used to get the output from the head unit to the inputs of the amp.

The second set of inputs are for high level.  These are used for cases where the head unit does not have rca outputs but are speaker (high level) outputs.  The plug is designed for a cable which comes with the unit - which you didn't get - to connect to the speaker output wires coming from the head unit.

Wiring  and install information can be found at:

and you can use the color of the wires to make sure the output of the amp goes to the proper speakers.

Carry On!
