Audio Systems: Bose 321 - UK to US power converter, bose 321 gs ii, audio power amplifier

Question
Hi,
I bought a Bose 321 GS II in the US last week brought it home to Ireland (same as UK power) and I was told by the Bose shop to buy a Samsonite power multi-adapter to power the system here in Ireland.

Problem - I have video but no sound. Been through all the connections and troubleshooting - no good.

The Samsonite is rated at 1600W so this should be enough?

One problem I can see with the adapter is that it has a 'Duty Cycle' of only 30 minutes - not much use for a home entertainment system - so much for the recommendations of the Bose salesperson!

My question is - can the adapter be the problem by not delivering enough VA to the system? I will need to buy a new adapter anyway but I'm wondering if you have any recommendations on same and if a new power system will solve the issue?

Many thanks,
Alan.

Answer
Adapter is not the problem.  It is high enough rating that it is running very cool and the bose unit will never come close to that power usage of 1600 watts.  So, it should run continuously with no problems at all.

The loss of audio is either connections or a failure of the audio power amplifier system in the Bose - or settings.

Cheers,
C
