Audio Systems: connection volvo radio 30850648, volvo radio, radio unit

Question
hello,

I have a Volvo radio 30850648 which I want to install in a tractor. In the tractor I have no plugs, only wires. Can anyone tell me how to make the connection (I mean where does each wire has to be connected)?

kind regards

Answer
There are a few ways you can go about it:

ONE:  Obtain the wiring schema for the radio from Volvo or other sources.  Obtain the wiring for the tractor.  Match the 12v to the radio and the output of the radio to the speakers, etc.

TWO:  If you cannot find the wiring diagram of the radio unit, you can obtain from googling the model number. There are a few sites that give information on the unlocking code and where/how to purchase the manual for the radio.  Then, same thing with the tractor, try to find it online , or

THREE:  Obtain a cheap vom (Under $10 in US) and use it to trace out the speaker lines so they can be matched to the speaker output lines of the radio unit.  The 12v line feed from the battery should not be difficult to run off the battery in the tractor or off the ignition.  Many radios have two 12v lines.  I don't know if yours does nor not.  If so, one is for 12v constant and the other comes from the ignition for turning on the radio unit.

If you give me a tractor make and model I will try to look it up for you OR you can google for its wiring diagram.  The nice thing about tractors is the wiring is easy to follow - as opposed to automobiles where the wires are wrapped up in harnesses and go to hidden routes that are impossible to follow - and you may be able to just manually trace out the wires or, indeed, in the case of speakers just run some new wires of your own choosing.

Hope this gets you started; let me know more if you need additional assistance.
