Audio Systems: 2005 Pionner cd player, rf interference, noise suppressors

Question
i hooked my cd player up right i think and ran my RCA jacks for my amp for the highs,,,and if you turn the music down you can hear the car idling threw my speakers that are hooked up to the amp....What should i do.....

Answer
Ignition noise is a headache in some circumstances. Often it is a bad wire, wire running too close to the alternator stuff, etc.  But, most often it is ignition noise getting into the sensitive electronics in the amplifier gear.

Question: Does idle noise go up in frequency as the engine rpm is increased?  If so, it is clearly related to the spark plug lines emitting rf interference into the amplifier somehow.

The above page shows a few noise killers that might work for your system.  You probably want to experiment a little to see if you think it is coming through the antenna, the 12v power line or something else.

Also, the following tutorial has some good ideas for you to study in understanding the type of interference you are getting.

Hope this helps, but let me know if there is more you need.
