Audio Systems: Outdoor audio speakers to a TV RCA audio, exterior speakers, rca jacks

Question
QUESTION: I installed two outdoor speakers near my pool.  I have XM satellite radio on my Directv service for my TV.  I had the novel idea of running speaker cable to my TV and putting RCA jacks on the speaker wire to connect to the audio output jacks on the TV.  I thought this would allow me to play the XM satellite channels to the exterior speakers.  Is this feasible?  Or, am I incorrect in my analysis that the TV will not "drive" the exterior speakers.  Note that the exterior speakers do not have an independent power cord or supply.  Any remedy you can suggest is appreciated.

ANSWER: Your TV will not provide amplifier outputs and the internal speakers are dedicated to the TV inputs. The answer is you need an amplifier.

QUESTION: Can amplifier be connected to the TV?  If so, what type of amplifier should I look for?  Thank you

Answer
First you need to look at your TV and make sure it has line audio outputs and then you'll have to make sure that you get an audio signal from the transport (DVD or VCR) inputs to see if you can pass a signal from the XM outputs. FYI - TV manufacturers do not make TV's to double as amplifiers so you will need to carefully test it.
