Audio Systems: Delco oem radio swap, delco radios, gm radios

Question
QUESTION: I have a 2000 chevy silverado, that had a working aftermarket radio in it when i bought it.  I have since purchased 3 OEM Delco radios for this exact year model, all appear to work, lights, clock, stations, etc.  The only thing is the volume control does not work on any of them.  I thought when I bought the first one, that I just got a bad one, so I bought another, and then another, each with the same result.  I am now thinking I could not have bought 3 bad ones in a row, there must be something internal to the vechicle, a volume lock of some kind.  But the strange thing is, if I plug the after market stereo back in, it works fine?  Can you help me, what is it about these oem Delco radios that they will not play and sound?

ANSWER: there are factory gm radios 1999 to 2002 that don't have power inside because the amplifier is in the vehicle most likely that is the problem

you are buying the wrong radios make sure the part numbers are the same because the radios look the same , some with build in amplifiers

QUESTION: Thank you very much, but since I dont have the original radio, how can I tell which part numbers have an amplifer and which ones don't?  Or how can I tell if my vechicle has the amplifier, or does not have an external amplifier? Where would it most likely be located if I do have an external amp? Thanks again.

Answer
is there a BOSE logo in any door

is your radio harness ok or it was cut  sometimes the remote wire is cut and it needs to send power to the factory amplifier
