Audio Systems: sharp lcd + vcr, vcr dvd player, cables red

Question
We just bought a LC-32D62U Sharp Aquos.  (love the picture)  My husband has gotten everything hooked up, VCR, DVD player, and sound system.  The only problem we are having is recording to the VCR.  The cables run from the output on the VCR (toshiba) to the input on the TV.  When we try to record we just get static.  Do we have it hooked up correctly?  Do we need to do something different?  Or do we just need to buy new equipment to record.  We are using an external antenna, no cable or satellite.

Answer
Congratulations.  Yes, Sharp has a really good picture!

If you are recording programs off the tv you must have a set of cables from  the tv outputs to the inputs on the vcr.  If you are using composite interface - which I recommend to you - then the yellow cable goes from the video output on the tv to the video input on the vcr. And, similarly, the audio cables, red and white, go from the audio out on the tv to the audio in on the vcr.

If your tv does not have video and audio outputs you will not be able to record from it.

Let me know if you have further questions.
