Audio Systems: sub wolfer, amplifier output, frequent failure

Question
I've had some trouble before but my sub wolfer dos not work no fuses are blow out it may be a conction but i do not know were to start to look any help would be great

Answer
First thing to try is checking the sub amp to make sure it has power.  If the sub and sub amp are separate units, try connecting another speaker (at low audio level) to the amp to see if it gives sound.

Second thing to try is connecting the subwoofer to another amplifier output to see if it responds to a known-good amplifier.

If your subwoofer and amp are integrated into the same box you may have to disassemble it to determine if the amplifier signal is getting to the  voice coil of the sub.  Quite frankly, in the integrated units a frequent failure is an open voice coil in the woofer itself.  If the voice coil is out you may have to replace or repair the woofer unit.

If you need more help, please give me the make and model numbers of your sub woofer and the amplifier so I can dig into the specifics of your problem.
