Audio Systems: amp and subs question, channel amps, watts rms

Question
scott,

i am looking to install amps and subs for my 90 bronco xlt i already have a new pioneer head unit and aftermarket front and rear speakers. the thing is i dont know the difference between mono, 2-channel, 4-channel amps are.  i am looking at getting (2) Kenwood KFC-W3514DVC
                       12" 1500W Dual 4-Ohm Subwoofers
and want kenwood apm or amps for it.  what would be the best for optimizing this?

Answer
A mono amp has one output channel, 2 channel has two and so on. Mono and 2 channel amps are typically used for subs. 4 channel amps are usually for the four speakers (two front, two rear).

For you a mono amp that's around 700 watts RMS @ 1 ohm would be best with the subs wired parallel-parallel - http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j230/sparky3489/DUAL-PARALLEL.jpg

Be sure the amp is 1 ohm stable and be sure to put the subs in the right enclosure for optimal performance.
