Audio Systems: no volume, professional audio engineer, decibles

I have a 5 year old jvc rx6000 and just recently the volume shot up to 80
decibles on every channel what is wrong?

Paul - I will be painfully honest; these days a 5 year old receiver is an antique. The cost of repairing it outweighs the cost of finding a new and better one surfing for deals on the web. I personally am a professional audio engineer and I rarely use consumer products for that very reason. I'm still using some audio gear that's over 20 years old that out performs most of the garbage that these manufacturers push on those who don't understand the guts consumer equipment.
