Audio Systems: 2002 Ford Expd. amplifier, proper gain, rms power

Question
Hi, my amplifier and subwoofer blew. I had the subwoofer replaced (only to find out the amp needed to be replaced as well.) I had a used JPL amp, took it to Best Buy, they took the whole car apart only to find the amp didn't work. They suggested buying something on ebay for cheap. I have no idea what to look for on ebay, size, dementions, etc. At this point I just want it fixed asap. What can I go buy to replace the amp for the lease amount of money. Best buy only sells amp/subwoofer combos which I do not need. Thanks!

Answer
I am not a big fan of buying high end electronics from Ebay UNLESS a warranty is issued by the manufacturer and is full-on legitimate.

There are plenty of on-line retail stores that are reasonable.

My two picks.

I've even found deals on:

http://www.overstock.com

Ideally you want to match the RMS power of an amp to the sub(s) at the right impedance(ohm) load. This and finding an amp that's CEA-2006 compliant with proper gain settings will ensure a long and happy relationship with your audio system.
