Audio Systems: car audio at home, car cd player, watts rms

Question
I wanted to know how I would power an amplifier at home.  I know I could use a PC Power supply, but there are like 40 wires with different colors.  I would like to use a car cd player, about 4 car speakers, and the amp to power them.  My main problem with all this is the wiring for the power, and the CD player.  My idea was to build a box to enclose all of this and have it kept in my garage when I'm working. Thank's alot.

Answer
A PC power supply won't power an amp AND a CD player. Not enough current (amperes). A 200 watt PC power supply is only 16 amperes. Most car stereos require 10 amperes alone. The remaining 6 won't power an amp.

Since you didn't say what the total watts RMS will be, I can only offer this:

A 13.8 volt DC 25 ampere bench-top power supply will run a 250 watt RMS total system at a cost of about $172.
