Audio Systems: Home Theatre Sony surround system, sony surround system, control amplifier

Question
You had someone else ask this and I would not repeat the question but mine is a little different. I have a Sony DVD surround system and the radio and DVD player work great and the TV, but my power cut out and even though I have it on a surge protector when  I try to play the TV though it I have to same issue, it is real quiet and I have to turn it up really loud. The radio and DVD player work fine though. It is almost like it needs to be reset for the TV. Any ideas?

Answer
Not sure if you have a problem with the surround system or the tv.

Let's find out.

Disconnect the tv from the surround system and listen to the tv by itself.  If it is working okey then we must rule it out as the problem.

Now, make sure you have the cables from your tv connected properly:  The audio OUTPUTs, red and white, should be connected to the audio INPUTs on the surround control amplifier.  The switching should be set for tv audio.  Wiggle the connections to make sure they are good.

Your manual for the surround system should show pictorials on how to hookup the systems.  You can download the manual from Sony.com if you have lost the original.

Let me know if you have further questions.
