Audio Systems: Vienna speakers not working properly, resistor, authorized service

Question
Hello, I'm wondering if you can help me out.  I have a pair of Vienna Haydn Grand speakers.  I believe they were overdriven. I was listening to a record and someone switched the amp to cd player, it got really loud now only the tweeters on the speakers work.  I opened them up and could not find any visual problems except for a blackened resistor on each speaker, (I think it's 150 ohms).  I have tried replacing the resistor with no luck as to getting the speakers to work.  Not sure where to go from here as none of the speakers are blown and there are no fuses or anything.  Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks!!!

Answer
Although I am an expert in the field of audio it does not cover details of the plethora of equipment manufactured and each component in the device. From where I'm sitting the speakers were not designed to handle peaks in the low end very well. The protection which should have been a fused device seems to be the crossover. There are other components in that crossover designed to separate the signal that goes to the woofer and tweeter. If you are not a technician then I suggest that you stop at the resistor. There should be a coil, capacitor and possibly a network of components. If you have a number for the manufacturer call them and tell them what you did. They will probably give you the name of an authorized service station or an RA to return the speakers for repair.
