Audio Systems: teac A-R610 integrated amp, output transistors, amp power

Question
When switching power on, the amp powers up for about 1 second then goes to standby, press standy again, the amp clicks and imediately returns to standby, any ideas

Answer
Yes, it is going into overload protection.

Here are the causes:

ONE:  Shorted loudspeaker
TWO:  Shorted wiring
THREE: Audio output transistors have failed
FOUR:  Main power supply overloaded for reasons above or internal power supply problems

Here is what you should do to find out if it is internal to the amp or external.

-  Shut down the amp, unplug the power cord.
-  Disconnect all speaker wires at the back of the amp
-  Power the amp up again with all speakers disconnected and volume control at minimum.

If it still does not start up the problem is internal and will need servicing - either power supply or the audio  output transistors replaced.

If it is okey now, then connect one speaker at a time and that will lead you to the culprit speaker or wiring.

Hope this helps.
