Audio Systems: tv with no audio out, sony tv, sound receiver

a year ago I bought a 40" Sony Bravia model #KLV-40U100M.  The problem I now have is that it only has 1 HDMI and no audio out!

I'd love to buy a surround sound system that would work with TV and DVD but I'm clueless about these sorts of things. Is there a simple answer to this?  What sorts of inputs/outputs would I need in the surround sound system to make it work?  Can I use my cable box as a place to link a surround sound system (Motorola DCT6416III) Thank you for your time."

The Sony TV should play no part in the audio. Everything; cable, DVD and any other source should go directly from the device to a surround sound receiver. The Receiver HDMI out is the connected to the TV HDMI in. That's it. Just make sure that the receiver has an HDMI output.
