Audio Systems: 2002 mustang convertible, factory speakers, makes and models

my girlfriend has a 02 mustang convertible with the mach audio system and i want to put a aftermarket deck and sound. how do i go about putting this in with the factory speakers. do i need a bypass harness or anything like that and if so where can i find one? thanks

Nice vehicle.  Worth getting some good sound into it.

Best place to start is at crutchfield. They have the best crunch site to tell you what fits and what is compatible and what is not.  They also have the wiring harness adapters and wiring instructions - if you should decide to purchase from them.  They have a full staff of engineers who keep detailed information on all makes and models of every car you can think of!

Start at the above and finish plugging in the information about the car.  It will guide you through the options for various decks and players that you can choose from.

I suggest you to study a few options before deciding.  You want to avoid getting something that is not totally compatible.  Also, you want to one that suits the interests of the driver and passengers.
