Question
QUESTION: I have a sony mexdv2000 car dvd player. I have  2 mb quart front speakers and 2 mb quart back speakers and a jl a4300 amp.when i do a speaker check in my car the front left speaker sound is very low the front right is loud and back 2 speakers are loud. I have swapped the front speakers with the back speakers.the front left speaker always comes in low sounding.could be a problem with my 1997 honda accord lx.would a new car battery fix the problem. thnaks .

ANSWER: Nothing to do with the battery.

When you say "low" does that mean the sound output is less than or lower than the other channels?

If the low level is always the front left then the amplifier settings may be off.  Check the balance and fade controls to make sure they are neutral.

Also, check the wiring; if there is a high resistance short on that speaker line it could be robbing off some of the power from getting to that speaker.

Also, the power amp itself can be the problem.

So, check the wiring and the balances first and that may lead to the solution.

QUESTION: the sound output is less than the other channels. could my  car have a circuit problenm in it. I noticed a year before i had my speakers installed and my amp that the front left side of my factory  speaker was lower sounding thant the other 3 speakers.could it be a problem with the car and not the installed speakers and amp.would a diagnostic check by the honda dealer help. I got the sound a little louder on the left mb quart speaker by raising the amps 2 volume channels all the way clockwise. thanks

Answer
It likely has nothing to do with the car electrical system.

It is more likely to be mismatched speaker sensitvities  or wiring or defective amp. (If it is not in the balance and fade settings as mentioned previously).

You could test the amp by connecting a good speaker directly to the output of the amp with a direct wire from the output of the amp (internal car wiring disconnected) and compare that speaker sound on all the amp outputs to see if there really is a difference in output level.  Then if there is no difference in level on the same direct wired speaker it means the problem is not the amp - and so on as you do the process of elimination.

Hope this helps further.
