Audio Systems: Battery dead, buick regal, car repair

Question
I have a 99 buick regal. I had an amp installed for my highs. After it was done I went out of town for a week and came back to my car being dead. I jumped it off, thinking I had just left something on. Then, overnight my car would go dead. I have put new batteries, alternator, and new belts on. My car is still dying overnight. The amp does cut off when I turn my car off. For over a few months I have been just disconnecting the ground on the battery so my car will not be dead. What else can I do?

Answer
You really should take it into a car repair place that deals with electric systems in the car.

They can easily measure the current drain on the battery when you shut the ignition off and tell you if it is the audio system or something else.

IF:  You know how to use a vom meter and have one available you can easily measure the current drain from the amplifier  to see if that is the culprit.  Let me know if you need help with this task.

I suspect it is not a difficult matter.  Something is drawing current constantly and running down your battery.  It could be the amp you added, for example, if the remote turn on connection is not switching off when the ignition goes off.

Another thing you can try is just pulling the power wire off the newly added amp and see if that solves the problem; if so, the remote wire is wrongly connected.
