Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Toro winter storage, toro recycler, self propelled mower

Question
Hello: I bought a Toro recycler self propelled mower this summer, and planned on having end of season maintenance done by the store I bought it from.Problem is,they are up to their necks in snowblower servicing, and can't do the work until spring.I had my mower out today to run it dry,but it wouldn't start. It would run for a few seconds, and then die.It did this several times, and I eventually gave up.It is 10 degrees today, would this affect starting? During the summer,it would occasionally do this, and would then start and run on the next attempt.
Would it start better on a warmer day? Is there anything else you would suggest for storage till spring until I can take it to the shop?
Thanks!

Answer
It sounds as if the fuel in it is stale. In this case I would purchase some SEA FOAM and add it to the fuel. Next try priming and starting it again, after a few tries, some of the SEA FOAM should make it to the carburetor and should help it get going.
