Audio Systems: STEREO SPEAKERS, stereo speakers, speaker wires

I HAVE A SONY AM FM CD RADIO FOR MY HOUSE WITH 2 SPEAKERS CONNECTED TO IT BY SPEAKER WIRES. WHEN I PLAY A CD ONE OF THE SPEAKERS DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY. THERE IS HARDLY ANY SOUND AND IT IS CRACKLING.  BUT WHEN PLAY THE RADIO IT IS PERFECT. I CHECKED THE CONNECTION AND IT IS FINE. SHOULD I GET A NEW SPEAKER.

Your troubleshooting was good because you described everything in a logical manner. If the radio sounds fine then the speakers are fine. The problem should be with either the cables from the CD play or the CD player. It is unlikely that it would be the Receiver. If it is a all in one system then it probably means that the system is is need of repair.
