Audio Systems: loss of sound with new speaker installation, infinity speakers, monsoon stereo

Question
Hello,
I hope you can help.  I have a 2002 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am with the 10 speaker Monsoon stereo system.  I am switching out all of the stock AC/Delco speakers with Infinity speakers.  I replaced the front door speakers with Indiniti companents with no problems.  The sail panel speakers and back hatch speakers I replaced tonight. The stock sail panel speaker is a Dual Voice and I replaced that with a 6.5" 2-way speaker and the back hatch which had a stock woofer and tweeter set-up was replaced with the 4x6 Infinity speaker. Since the Dual Voice speaker had two sets of wires coming off it I spliced wires into the woofer and tweeter wires in the back hatch area and connected them to the sail panel speaker.  Now, I don't get any sound at all from any speaker!!!  What did I do and how can I fix it?  Will appreciate any and all help you can give me.

Thanks,

Answer
Not sure what you did with the wiring on the 2-way  units, but they need a crossover either passive or active; if active you need separate amps to drive the tweeter.

If you put full power on the tweeters you could have blown them out; if they went short it could have wiped out the amplifier.

I suggest you reset the amps, disconnect all speakers from the amp at the amp terminals and power them one at a time.

Do not parallel any speakers with another as that will lower the impedance load to the amp.

Also, you did not mention the impedance ratings. If they are not the same as the Delcos you replaced it could be a problem.

Maybe this will help you in the overall scheme of your system.
