Audio Systems: removing mach 1000 head unit, ford product, fords

I am trying to install subwoofers to my mach 1000 6 cd changer, but im not sure how to get my cd player out without damaging anything. All I need to do is connect the input/outputs and the remote wire. Are there screws holding in the brace for the cd player, or does it just pop off. Do I have to take out the shifter before doing any of this?

Not sure I understand your question.  Are you wanting to remove the unit from the dash in order to get at the connections on the back?

Is this in a Mustang or other Ford product?

Most Fords require a removal tool to pull the unit out of the casing that it slides into.  You can find them at www.installer.com or www.crutchfield.com and such places.

Also, some older Fords are listed at www.installdr.com which may be of some help to you as the mounting methods tend to evolve slowly over time.
