Audio Systems: automatic volume control, automatic volume control, level compression

Question
I have a magnavox tv with avl but the avl does not work,so i sent for  a audio control box that was going to take care of my annoying loud sounds,well it did nothing for me it does the same thing.
Do you hsve anything that i can try?

What is it you want to do?  I am not sure I understand the question.  What avc box did you try?  And how did you connect it to your system?  Can you give me some model numbers and I will research it for you.

But, avc boxes usually have various settings that operate on the audio signal in ways that you want it to perform.  If you just automatic gain so that the sound remains somewhat the same level that is one thing.  But, different from level compression.
