Audio Systems: 95 nissan maxima bose audio system, bose oem, nissan maximas

Question
I have gutted out my 95 maxima bose OEM CD Tape Receiver system and need to replace it.  I bought a new sony receiver from Circuit City with free installation and was told that my car was not compatible with the sony system and they wanted to charge me an outrageous fee for installation.  Right now I have no audio system in my car so will have to start from scratch.  I want to make sure that what I buy can be easily installed into my 95 Nissan Maxima before I purchase it, as I don't want to be stuck with a system that I cannot use in my car.  I would like to buy a used Bose system like the original OEM that came with my car.  Thank you for your help in this endeavor.

Answer
If you go into www.crutchfield.com and go down through the steps for your Sony model

http://www.crutchfield.com/S-SI1oHAaDeY5/cgi-bin/autoinfo/autoinfo.asp?s=0&cc=01...

You may find out if your model is listed for compatibility and what you must do and which cables you must use.

But, most of the Bose systems have the power amplifiers built right into the speaker baskets in the Nissan Maximas and to replace the Bose system you must rip out all the speakers and wiring and start over again.

There are various adapters and devices that may be of help to you in the project at:

http://www.oemautosound.com/c-166-nissan-products.aspx

So, take a look there.

I suggest you do a little research on what is left in your car, go through the crutchfield analysis and see if that yields anything. If your new Sony will work, find out what is needed to use it. If you are going to purchase a new aftermarket unit, be sure it is compatible and get the right devices and harnesses from crutchfield or oemautosound so as to make the installation simple.

If you decide to gut the bose system completely (including speakers and all) you can choose any system that will fit into the dash cavity!

So, I cannot answer the question exactly, but I think I have given you the tools to do it yourself.  Hope this helps.
