Audio Systems: JL Audio 12 W3v3-4, rca cables, monoblock amp

Question
I have a 99 Lexus already equiped with two 12" w3v3-4, but I have another one just sitting around not being put to use. Is it possible to run all three and still get a hard hitting sound out of them like two W6's? and if so what kind of amp should i go wit? Please help me out cause I am so confused on what to do with this system

Answer
Two good 12 inch subs will shake and rattle the car if they are properly powered and loaded (acoustically speaking).

But adding a sub is a simple matter. It takes two 12v lines to the sub and the audio feed. One 12v is constant and requires big fat wire for low resistance. The other is for activation when the head unit comes on.  This wire can be small.  Both can be extended from the existing sub amp if it is convenient to the installation location of the new amp.

Same with the audio feed; you can jumper or parallel the audio input from the existing sub over to the new sub amp.  You may need to purchase a double up connector set so you can extend the rca cables over.  Then you must, of course, have a pair of wires from the new amp output to the additional sub you are installing.

If the additional subwoofer is a single voice coil, then just get a monoblock amp of sufficient power to drive it.  The best thing you can do it have the right enclosure for the sub.

Final comment: Too many speakers will compromise the space in the trunk!  And will also compromise the acoustic loading of the entire space in the car.  So, think it through carefully and get some good advice from a local install shop that can tell you more about the equipment you already have and what might be done to optimize the current setup.

Good Luck,
