Audio Systems: Chevrolet cd player installation, pioneer cd player, pioneer unit

I am installing a Pioneer cd player in place of the OEM stereo in a 2003 Chev 1/2 ton truck. I used the aftermarket wiring harness adapter, and the wires all match up - no problem. There is power right up to the plug to the player, but it will not turn on. Had the player checked by supplier & its O.K. The "ignition" wire is connected properly, but could it be the problem? Not sure if I should have power on it when key is in on position. Help!!!

Easiest way to check this out is to get the little voltmeter from Walmart (electrical department for $9.83) and check the voltage right at the new Pioneer unit.  The main 12v should be on all the time and the line coming from the ignition should come on when switched.

If you have never used a vom, don't fear, it comes with instructions and is super easy to understand.
