Motorcycle Repair: Harley Sportster, harley sportster, sportster 1200

Question
I have a 1992 Sportster 1200 conversion. I recently had a oil leak at the base of my rear cylinder so I purchased a gasket kit from Harley and replaced all the gaskets on the rear cylinder. The problem I have is when I start the bike the rockers are very noisy. I was told it takes a while for the oil to come up, so I let the bike run for a good 15 to 20 min., rode it around the block but still very noisy. I don't want to cause any damage, do you have any advice? Thanks for any help.

Answer
First, did you get the pushrods back in the right place? The rear intake and the rear exhaust are different lengths.
If that is ok, then try running it again. SOmetimes it takes a while for the lifters to pump up. If it is still noisy they you might have to remove the lifters and check the oil hole in them for dirt.
