Audio Systems: 2001 Dodge Grand Caravan Infinity Cassette sound system blinking lights, dodge grand caravan, infinity system

Question
We replaced the battery in early 2006 and the Infinity cassette system would not work after that. Dealer was no help. Went without radio for 7 mths, then bought a used Infinity system from dealer and they installed. Recently when the airconditioner was being used the system would go out, then back on clock reset time etc. This went on for a few weeks and now its out again with the 3 lights for the graphic equalizer blinking fast and nothing else works. Am I screwed again? Any ideas on what to try or what could have caused it to go out both times? Any help would be greatly appreciated. We have bought Dodge for 25 years but this is it!!

Answer
I think it was installed incorrectly.  Maybe they used the wrong adapter harness which switched some of the wires around, etc.

I recommend you bite the bullet and go into an  independent install shop where they have experience with these kinds of problems and get it straightened out. It will require someone who can pull the system out, check out all the parts on the bench and then reinstall it correctly with the right assignment of wires to connector pins.

If you have a vom and know how to use it in tracing out wiring of the speakers and all the voltage lines (and I thin k in this vehicle some data lines that are carried over the same circuits) you could do it yourself, but don't even think about it unless what I have just said makes sense to you.  It really requires someone with high level experience on this one!
