Audio Systems: 2002 VW Monsoon sound system, monsoon sound system, car fuse

Hello,

I turned on my Monsoon sound system today and it is totally dead. It includes front cd/tape/radio and trunk 6-disc cd changer. No response when I push the on/off button. Do you have any advice for quick fixes?  Or who I should take it to?

Well, totally dead usually means it is getting no power whatsoever.   There should be a fuse somewhere (there may be two fuses, depending on how it is wired up; one would be an inline fuse when installed and the other would be the car fuse from whence the main power line was connected).

So, first thing is to check all the fuses.

If you have a vom and know how to use it you should check the 12v connections to the Monsoon to see if there is voltage.  If there is not, then back to the fuses or broken wires. If there IS 12v then you must troubleshoot the system and find out what has failed.  There are many possibilities.  So, go that far and let me know more if you don't find out what is ailing.

If you decide to take it in, choose a local installer who specializes in aftermarket audio systems.
