Audio Systems: boat stereo, infrared converter, www pac

Question
I replaced a JVC stereo on my boat but didnt take into account the wired remote. The new one does not have plugs preinstalled for a wired remote.  My question is...do I have to buy a stereo which is prewired for a wired remote or can I open up the old stereo and take out the wired rmote connector and then install it in the new unit?

You may be able to use a wired remote to infrared converter. PAC makes several, as to what model, you will have to check with them, or a local car audio shop that sells that product...
