Audio Systems: After Market CD/Radio causing car batterty to drain??, hawthorn woods illinois, janice dickenson

Question
We have a 2001 Mercury Mystique; my daughters boyfriend removed the factory radio and installed a CD/Radio by Sony named “Explode.”  Here is the description of it taken from the box:  CDX-GT51W.  208 Watt AM/FM Car CD receiver with MP3-WMA-ATRAC-AAC Playback.

The problem is that every few days her car needs to be jump started.  It starts right up and runs for a time (undetermined as the length of time has varied over the past few months).  Is the radio the culprit?  How can I trouble shoot solving this problem?   We took it and had the battery checked and were told there is no abnormal load on it and were told the alternator was ok too.  Can you help?  We live in Hawthorn Woods Illinois (northern suburbs of Chicago) .  Do you have a recommendation for a shop we could take it to?

Desperatly looking for answers…
