Audio Systems: optical to coaxial convertor, analog inputs, analog input

Question
Hi Cleggsan
I have a Sony Mini HiFi Component system model MHC-GRX8 and an AKAI Integrated stero amplifier model AM-UO2.
Now the sony set has a CD OPTICAL DIGITAL OUT port which i wish to connect to the standard RCA coaxial AUX INPUT port of my stereo integrated amp. Is any convertor or cord available in this regard?

The above site has two types of converters; one that will convert to the rca type analog inputs; the other to convert the optical to coax digital.

So, if you are intending to use rca analog inputs, use the POF-820 model.

The reason you need an electronic module is because the optical output from the the Sony is not only digital, but also optical.  So, the converter must receive the optical signal, convert the digital stream to analog and output it for the analog input to the receiver.

There are other such converters online; this is just the first one I found with a search.
