Audio Systems: cd player and amp, panasonic cd player, pioneer 5700

Question
yeah i hooked up my pioneer 5700 amp to my panasonic cd player.  the amp comes on with the radion but when i switch to cd player it cuts out.  ive had the amp hooked up in my other car and it worked fine.  what could be the problem

Answer
Check out the wiring cables between the two units.

If you are sure it is wired correctly you will need to check the cd player.  Ultimately, you may have to pull it out and bench test it or take it into  an installer shop and have them check it.  If it is defective, probably cheaper to buy a new one.

If cd player checks out okey then double check the 5700 and the wiring again.

If you cannot find out the problem, give me the car year and model and the cd player model and I can dig deeper, but with the limited information you gave me, the above is the best generic information I can send you this time.

Thanks,
C

PS: If you come back to me explain what you mean when "cd player cuts out".  Does audio come on then cutout after you have switched to it?  Or, does it not come on at all?  Is there any sound, even hiss or noise coming out of the speakers or are they totally dead?
