Audio Systems: 1994 Dodge Intrepid ES w/Infinity AMFM-CD, electric antenna, antenna system

Question
When I eject the CD, the radio won't come on.  It's like it won't switch over. The radio tuner station's appear on the display, but all I hear is "hiss" when volume turn up to max. Any easy solutions?  Thank You,
Jon

So, the reset did not solve the problem.

Here are a couple of things to consider:

ONE:  The antenna may be disconnected, bad cable, bad connector, etc.  You can check these items by your self.  Wiggle the connections and the cabling from the antenna and check the ground connections.

TWO: Listen carefully with your ear close to one of the speakers.  Is it totally dead when on tuner is selected OR do you hear some hissing or noise sounds?  If totally dead then it is most likely a bad radio section of the head unit.  In this case the best avenue for you is to replace the head unit with a new aftermarket unit.  If you DO hear some noises coming from the speakers I refer you back to ONE where you should try again with the antenna wiring.  (For example, if the car has an electric antenna system  check the fuses and 12v wiring to the antenna to see why it is not going up when radio is selected).

Hope this will help.

The above is a pictoral guide for removal and installation if you decide to replace it.  If this is the original radio unit that came with the car it is probably due to be replaced.  There are many possibilities that will satisfy this vehicle. You can find out which ones by doing a run down for the make, model, year, etc. on the www.crutchfield.com site.  They have harness adapter kits and installation instructions for the new unit if you decide to purchase from them.

HOWEVER: Before proceeding with a replacement you might try a hard reset. This is done by removing the power from the unit for 15 to 20 minutes. Easiest way to accomplish this is to remove the battery cable from the positive terminal of the car battery.  Doing so will remove all power from the entire car, so if you have any security equipment installed in it make sure you have the security anti-theft codes so you can turn them back on when the power is restored.

Maybe this will help.  Hope so.
