Question
Factory AM/FM/CD player started making a loud humming sound through speakers, with no sound output through unit.  I discovered that the parking brake arm rubbed insulation off of a wire.  When I cut the wire to splice in a new piece the loud humming sound stopped (still no output through the unit), but when I reconnect it, the sound starts back.  I checked all of the fuses, but they all appear to be ok.  I have also checked all of the other wires near the damaged one and they all appear to be ok. Any advise you have would be appreciated.

The amp probably shorted out and was damaged. I would have the head unit bench tested to make sure it's ok, and then have any OEM amps bench tested too. Many of these newer units have all the functions controlled by a "brain" in the trunk, and they are pretty easy to damage.
