Audio Systems: EQ settings, pioneer deh 1600, eq settings

Hi I have a pioneer DEH-1600 in dash receiver in my car. There is an audio button and if you hold it down, a bunch of EQ settings come up and I have played around with them trying to find the best settings for rock and rap music. However I was wondering if you knew anything about this?

I am, personally, a purist and like to leave all the eq settings "flat" so the sound is not altered.

But, if you want more bass out of the system it is sometimes very helpful to kick up the bottom two octaves a little bit.

But, in the long run it is for your enjoyment and what you like for the sound is what you should have.  

However, don't expect the eq settings to compensate for a bad or inferior speaker system.  The better the speaker set up the more useful an equalizer becomes.
