Audio Systems: problem with system, protection mode, hi bob

my amp goes to protection mode when i turn it up past a certain volume level on the cd player but it will go back and forth between working and protection mode like when the bass hits in a song it will go to protection mode and then when the song is call it will work but if i keep it at a low volume level it works the hole time

Hi Bob,

Quite simply, your amp is acting as it should, and shutting down when it's pulling too much power due to when you over-drive it.  If you're having this problem, then the amp is under-powered for the kind of music you're playing and the volume levels you want to listen to, which can permanently destroy your hearing.  The only answer is to upgrade your amp to one with 2-3 times more RMS and peak power (wattage) rating.  If you like the amp, you can probably just buy a similar one from the same manufacturer that supports much higher wattage/amp levels.  Good luck!  Cheers, Wink
