Audio Systems: 2001 Pont Sunfire - left channel audio not working, speaker terminal, left speaker

This problem is constant.  The car does not emit the warning sound when I leave headlight on, keys in the ignition and open the drivers side door.  Both the front and rear speaker do not work when using fm/am or the factory cd player.  I'm not sure where to start troubleshooting, as the problem does not seem localized to just the radio.  Sometimes (very infrequently) the front-left speaker will kick on and work, but the rear left will continue to not work.

Sounds like a wire or speaker terminal is shorting to ground. I would look at the back of each speaker and make sure the terminals are isolated and not broken. Also the wiring behind the radio could be falling apart, if it has been cut from the original harness.
