Audio Systems: multiple audio output, private question, question option

Question
I am considering installing several sets of speakers throughout my home.  Interior and exterior.  I would like to have on/off volume and possibly some tone control for each set of two (stereo) speakers.  My goal is to be able to turn up the music in the front yard and maybe turn it down a little in the back yard, etc.  I am a DIY kind of person.  I don't mind running the wires or switches or whatever.  However I always like to do these things at a minimum cost.  For example, these speakers will all be very mismatched, whatever I can find.  What do you suggest?  Thanks for your help.  Michael K.

Answer
I wont touch this in public.
It is far too involved to just put out there on the web for free (to all).
IF you are serious, please re-ask this using the private question option and let me know:
1) How many sets of speakers you will be using.
2) What kind of amp(s) you plan to drive them with.
3) Speaker distances involved and  any other pertinent specifics you could add.
Then we can see what the possibilities and feasibilities are.

Sincerely,
Jerry Mael
