Motorcycle Repair: How to get a cycle ready for riding after sitting, good luck, tank

I just boutght a bike that has been sitting for a few years.  What's the first step I should take in getting it ready to ride.  It was stored without gas in the tank.

Since the bike has been sitting I would first get a new battery. Charge it over night. You will probably have to remove the carb and clean it. install new plugs and start the bike. Let it run until it warms up then change all the fluids and you should be good to go.
