Audio Systems: the light, car stereos, american made cars

Question
The light on my stereo just went out and so everything still worked but you cant see what you are changing it to or the time. But then I lost power in my car and have to reset the theft lock in my stereo but I cant even see what I am doing. PLEASE HELP. The dealership said it is just a Pontiac malfunction and there is nothing I can do about the light.

Answer
Hi Max,

I'm sorry (and surprised!) to say that the dealership was right (I've worked at one, and dealerships are often owned and run mostly by, well, idiots.)  The light is gone - car stereos aren't usually well-made, esp. in American-made cars, and they're subjected to a wide range of temps, humidity, and even directly sunlight, so they just all crap out at some point.  Mine did the same, and all you can do is replace it.  Sorry to confirm the bad news.  Yours, Wink
