Answer
Greg,

Thanks for the nice feedback comments you made, it's very much appreciated.  Sounds like you've decided to check out the clutch chattering problem.

Here's what I'd suggest:  Go to your l;ocal auto parts store and look at their repair manual offerings.  The one I'd look for first is the 'Porsche 944 Automotive Repair Manual', published by Haynes,  It covers the 944 from 1983 through 1989.  I believe this is the only Haynes manual that covers water cooled, front engined Porsche cars.  So its the closest you're going to get to your 928.

The Haynes product number is 1027 or 9U4-1027,   Before you buy it. turn to Chapter 8, Clutch and Drivetrain, flip through the pages and see if the kind of information and pictures they present is what you're interested in.  I'll bet it is.  And given the way Porsche has migrated good ideas from one model line to another over the years, I'd bet there are tremendous similarities between what you see in the manual and what you see on your 928, in every area of the car.

I hope this helps.  (Don't spend more that $20 on your trip, it's available online for around that amount including shipping, and sometimes my wife can find good used manuals like this at big discounts.)

Dave

PS.  I'm looking forward to those pictures one of these days.
