Audio Systems: 2001 Ford Excursion Factory Stereo, ford excursion, wire colors

Question
I'm installing an amp & set of subs I bought used from a friend in my Excursion and need to know which wire is the "turn on" wire on the factory stereo to connect to.  Most things I've found say it's generally the blue wire but mine has no solid blue wire.  Can you help?

Answer
yeah, the blue wire turn on is only for aftermarket decks, not factory decks.  factory decks don't have a remote "turn on" wire, this is one of the reasons to replace your factory deck when adding amps.  alternatively you can use the "switched positive" wire. this wire turns positive only when the key is in the "on" and "run" positions.  you either need a meter to test which wire this is or look up your vehicle at a site like this:

where they show wire colors.  this link is for a 2000 excursion.  if your wires look different I would suggest the meter approach.
