-----Question-----
My speakers were going in and out and I was told that maybe the wires behind it had somehow rattled loose I took it out and sure enough the rear and front out wires weren't connected to anything I have a 2000 oldsmobile intrigue i was wondering if I could get to the connections myself and if so if you know how to get to them.
-----Answer-----
little confused here, not sure what "it" is.  if you read your question and assume you're talking to someone that doesn't know the details, I don't know wether you're talking about the wires behind the speakers coming off or the wires behind the cd player coming off?
if you're referring to the cd player, is it an aftermarket unit or a factory unit?  usually factory units aren't labeled as "rear and front out" only aftermarket units would have RCA jacks that would say that, and if that's what we're talking about (RCA jacks) then unless you have amplifiers, they don't need to be connected to anything so that's not your problem.

help clarify this so I can help you.

yeah, if you have no amplifiers then the rear and front outs wouldn't be connected to anything.  the speakers are directly connected to all those wires going into the unit. if all the speakers are going in and out all together its probably not a speaker problem, it's probably more likely a common source like the cd player.  I guess there's about 4 possible causes for this:

1: I'd say that if the display on the cd player blinks off with the speakers you have a loose or bad power wire and we can either try to troubleshoot that or just run new ones. so let me know if that happens.

2: there's also the possibility that your car has a hidden amp somewhere in the car that is going bad so tell me the year make and model and I'll see if it was available with a "premium" sound system.  if you see the words infinity or bose on the speaker grills this is a dead giveaway of that.

3: then theres the possibility that a speaker wire is being grounded against the body of the car somewhere.  we can troubleshoot that by disconnecting 1/2 of the speakers (like unhook the rears and leave the fronts connected) and see if the problem goes away, and if not switch to the other 1/2 (connect the rears back up and disconnect the fronts) and see if the problem goes away.  then when we narrow it down to which speaker is shorting out we fix it.

the last possibility is that your cd player may just have a problem,  loose connection inside, etc. and needs replacing. but we should try the other tests first (they're free!)

let me know!  some of these you can try easily so try them first and tell me how it goes.  if you need any extra help on how to do some of these tests let me know.
look forward to hearing from you again!
good luck!

Answer
uh oh!  I sense a little something in your response there!  don't worry I'm not trying to tell you you may have installed a big shiny chrome amplifier you don't know about!  with some cars its extremely hard to know there's one there, they can just be an unmarked "black box" up inside the dash somewhere, but inside that black box is amplifier guts.
so anyway,  I don't have much info on your car but I do have this:

http://www.autotoys.com/x/cust/product.php?productid=4250

its a link to an "amplifier bypass harness" and if you look at the 3rd to last entry on the cars it's made for, you'll see your old friend 2000 Oldsmobile intrigue. which means your car may have an amp hidden somewhere and I'd bet that's your problem if you do have one!

so the question is, where do we go from here?  some of these cars probably have the amps and some don't.  I think if we use a meter we should be able to find out.  do you have a meter?  if you don't, you can get one at home depot, lowes, or walmart for about $18. when you have one let me know and we'll work from there.
have a good evening.
