Audio Systems: 99 grand am, pontiac sunbird, gm cars

how do i remove the door panel to be able to remove the door speakers for a pontiac 99 grand am.

GM cars use clips that hold the door panels on.  You must examine from the side to determine which clips are used. Some are expanding clips and must be pulled outward; others are lifted up to bring them out.  Usually, start from the bottom of the door; as the clips are released, the entire panel then comes upward so the top part of it can be lifted up and out of the window sill.

Putting them back on so they will stay is sometimes more difficult than getting them off!

but if this were the case I assume you would not be asking the question because the screw heads would be visually obvious.

Door handles, arm rest must be removed first.  Door handles are usually a C clip; arm rest is screwed in with screws from the bottom.
